Importing Bryce terrains in Atmosphere worlds

(first draft tutorial, quick and dirty: 30.3.2001)

by Marco BARNIG

1) Launch Bryce 4.1, set up a new document, create a terrain and apply a texture.
2) Select the terrain, go to File menu > Export object and select .obj format. Adjust the number of polygons with realtime feedback in the polgygonal mesh preview by using the polygon counter slider.
3) Launch the Viewpoint scene builder, go to Tab Load/Publish (1), select menu Add OBJ ... and import terrain. Select menu Publish and export terrain in mtx and mts format in a folder.
4) Option: import mtx/mts files in Viewpoint Stream Tuning Studio to optimize the mts file.
5) Launch the Atmosphere builder, go to File menu > New, go to File menu Import Viewpoint Objects ..., import the terrain mtx file from the folder. The object shows up in the Variable Tools palette. Select the object and place it in the world window on a floor. Scale it to fit the floor size.
6) Go to File menu > Publish world ... and save the files into the same folder. Upload the folder to your website and note the url of the world, for example: http://www.saraproft.lu/Atmosphere/Bryceworld.aer. Load the url in your Atmosphere browser to enter the world or embed it in an webpage, for example: http://www.saraproft.lu/Atmosphere/bryceworld.html. Et voilà.
